The Snow League will host its second season at Park City Mountain from Jan. 21-23, 2027, featuring a competition of top halfpipe snowboarders and freeskiers on an upgraded 22-foot superpipe. The event, founded by three-time Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, arrives as the resort prepares for its debut in the league's schedule.
Media and Broadcast Details
The upcoming competition at Park City Mountain follows a multiyear media-rights deal between NBC and The Snow League. As Sports Business Journal first reported in August, the agreement for the league's second season includes live coverage on Peacock—which will expand to over 50 hours of content—and global live streams via the Snow League YouTube channel. Additionally, all four events in the season will receive encore presentations on the NBC broadcast network.
Season Two Schedule
The Park City Mountain event is part of a four-event Season Two schedule. The season is set to begin Sept. 19 in Cardrona, New Zealand. Following the New Zealand event, the tour will move to Buttermilk at Aspen Snowmass in Colorado from Jan. 7-9. After the Park City Mountain competition, the season will culminate with the 2027 Snow League World Championship in Laax, Switzerland, from March 11-13.
Superpipe Upgrades and Olympic Legacy
To accommodate elite competition, Park City Mountain has rebuilt the foundation for the state's only 22-foot superpipe. The construction utilized 3D terrain modeling, a method that significantly reduced the amount of snow required for the feature. The new superpipe extends beyond standard competition lengths to allow for an additional hit within the feature and will remain available as a training venue and terrain park feature as the resort prepares for the 2034 Winter Olympics.
Resort Investment and Infrastructure
Park City Mountain, the largest ski resort in the United States, has invested more than $144 million in various improvements over the last decade. These investments cover lifts, terrain, snowmaking, and dining. Recent developments include a reimagined arrival at Canyons Village, which features a new parking structure and a 10-person Canyons Village Skyway that provides a direct gondola connection from the garage to the Canyons Village Forum.
Winter Season Experiences
The resort's new winter brand platform, titled "Larger Than Life," aims to highlight the mountain's scale and Olympic legacy. This season's offerings include the expanded Peak to Plate dining experience and the return of the 22-foot Eagle Superpipe. Other seasonal activities include the S'mores Sleigh, a traveling treat service, and the return of holiday traditions such as the Canyons Village Tree Lighting the day after Thanksgiving and Santa's ride down the Town Lift on Dec. 20.
Terrain and Historical Tours
The resort offers diverse terrain across more than 7,300 acres. For beginners, High Meadow Park provides instruction, while advanced riders can access features like Jupiter Peak, Ninety-Nine 90, and Pinecone Ridge. Competition-level features include the Pick Axe and the Eagle Superpipe. The resort also features a Silver to Slopes Historic Mining Tour, which provides guided tours of historic buildings and relics to illustrate the area's evolution from a silver mining camp to a winter sports destination.
Regional Importance
Park City Mountain remains a key venue for the region's winter sports identity, located 35 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport. The resort's infrastructure and terrain improvements, such as the recently installed remote avalanche control system in Limelight Bowl, continue to support its role as a primary destination for both recreational skiers and professional competitors.
