Logan Canyon to reopen as firefighters continue battling Blind Hollow Fire

Highway 89 through Logan Canyon is expected to reopen at noon on Monday, according to Utah fire officials, as crews continue to make progress on the Blind Hollow Fire. The wildfire ignited late Sunday night near the Temple Fork area, burning grass and brush fuel in the canyon.

The Blind Hollow Fire burned between 15 and 20 acres in Logan Canyon on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Firefighters worked through the night to contain the blaze, which has resulted in the closure of U.S. 89 and Temple Fork Road through Monday morning.

Logan Canyon closed in both directions due to wildfire

Anyone planning to travel from Bear Lake to Logan Sunday evening will need to take an alternate route. Utah Fire Info reports that firefighters are responding to a wildfire near Temple Fork in Logan Canyon. Highway 89 is closed at both ends of the canyon, from Logan and Garden City.
