Grantsville cross country travels to Moab for Red Rock Invitational

On Sept. 22, the Grantsville High School cross country team boarded a bus and headed toward Moab, Utah, for the Red Rock Invitational race. The trip was an overnight experience and one of the best bonding opportunities available all year. The trip started nicely with the first stop made at Pizza Pie Cafe.

Moab couple accused of child torture pleads no contest to reduced charges

On Tuesday, Jeremiah pleaded no contest to attempted child torture, amended down to a second-degree felony. Jeremiah and Jennifer Perkins enter no-contest pleas on Oct. When asked by the judge, both Perkins acknowledged they were entering the plea because there is a risk that they would be convicted of child torture at trial.

Chip Thomas, artist behind Moab murals, named MacArthur Fellow

Chip Thomas, the physician-turned-public-artist whose black-and-white photo murals went up on two Moab buildings in 2023, was named a MacArthur Fellow on Sept. He’s back in town Oct. 8 for a Moab Museum panel on the Buffalo Soldiers. Nearly 1,200 people have been named MacArthur Fellows since the first awards in 1981, according to the foundation.
