Summer is one of the busiest seasons for Provo City School District’s Facilities and Maintenance teams. With fewer students in the buildings, crews can move quickly on projects that would be difficult to complete during the school year—from parking-lot work and landscape cleanup to flooring repairs, detailed cleaning, and improvements inside district workspaces.
Across each project, the goal remains the same: return schools and support facilities to students and staff safer, cleaner, and better prepared for the year ahead. Teams also continue to stretch public dollars by maintaining what can be preserved and safely reusing, refashioning, or recycling materials and equipment whenever practical.
Canyon Crest & Wasatch – Parking Lot Improvements
Crews worked through parking-lot resurfacing and restriping projects at Canyon Crest Elementary and Wasatch Elementary. Renewed pavement and clearer markings help define parking and traffic lanes, improve the daily arrival experience, and give each campus a cleaner, more orderly appearance.
Edgemont – Grounds Refresh
At Edgemont Elementary, grounds crews removed sections of hedge growth as part of a summer exterior refresh. Reducing overgrowth makes the area easier to maintain and keeps the campus perimeter neat and manageable for the school community.
Provost – Exterior Cleanup & Carpet Tile Repairs
Provost Elementary received a combination of exterior cleanup and targeted carpet-tile repairs. Addressing individual areas of wear—rather than replacing more material than necessary—helps keep school spaces functional while controlling material and labor costs.
Timpview – Summer Cleaning
At Timpview High School, crews are using the quieter summer schedule to complete detailed cleaning and reset high-use spaces with less disruption. This behind-the-scenes work helps prepare the campus for students and staff to return for a new school year.
District Grounds Trailer – Customized for the Work Ahead
One of the district’s grounds crews received a replacement enclosed trailer after the previous unit developed a failing door and a badly worn floor. Before putting the replacement into full service, crews customized it for durability and day-to-day efficiency.
The team applied a protective epoxy coating to the floor and lower edges, helping preserve the wood and making the trailer easier to spray out and clean. Crews then installed dedicated blower and trimmer racks so equipment can be secured, organized, and ready for work across the district. These practical in-house improvements protect the district’s investment while making daily work more efficient.
Maintenance Welding Shop – Remodel in Progress
At the district maintenance facility, crews cleared and prepared space for a welding-shop remodel, prepped and painted the walls, and installed gas lines for a welding booth. The improved layout will give maintenance staff a cleaner, better-organized space for welding and equipment work.
These projects represent only part of the work underway across Provo City School District this summer. Whether resurfacing a parking lot, repairing a small section of flooring, deep-cleaning a school, or adapting equipment for longer service, our Facilities and Maintenance teams continue to focus on safe, practical, and economical solutions.
