Juab School District Superintendent Dr. Kodey S. Hughes highlighted the district's focus on student safety in a report published September 9. Hughes noted that maintaining safe schools is a primary responsibility achieved through preparation, communication, and community cooperation.
The district maintains partnerships with the Nephi City Police Department and the Juab County Sheriff's Office to support student security. According to Hughes, law enforcement officers are present in schools, parking lots, and activities to build relationships with students. These officers serve as trusted adults who interact with students through daily activities and school events.
Beyond visible presence, Hughes stated that district leadership engages in ongoing discussions with police chiefs, sheriffs, and administrators regarding building security, emergency procedures, and crowd management. These collaborative efforts aim to identify areas for improvement to ensure safety for students, employees, and visitors.
Hughes expressed gratitude to local law enforcement agencies for their role in making the Juab School District a safe and welcoming learning environment.
