During the August 11, 2026, Study Session Board Meeting, the Provo City School District Board of Education received an update on construction at Timpview High School and demolition at Dixon Middle School. The Timpview presentation covered progress on the main building, south retaining wall, fire line installation, and commons. Timpview High School
Main Building
Work on the main building remains focused on foundational infrastructure. Concrete footings are ongoing, while underground mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are complete.
Crews have also started preparing for the concrete slab. Based on the August 11 update, foundation wall construction was scheduled to begin the following week.
South Retaining Wall
Construction of the south retaining wall is continuing along the edge of the campus. Masonry work has started, and crews are continuing to apply foundation waterproofing.
Underground storm drain installation is complete. The final retaining wall pour was scheduled for the week of the update, and the adjacent sidewalk reopened earlier this week, in time for the Timpview football game. Temporary lights are available along the south retaining wall sidewalk, and permanent light poles will be installed soon.
Fire Line Installation
The main fire line installation is complete, and a new fire hydrant has been installed. Fire department connections were scheduled for completion during the week of the August 11 update.
The new fire line connects to the existing South Gym fire riser room. One line will add water pressure to the existing school, while a second line will provide fire protection for the bleachers and surrounding area.
Sidewalk preparation near the fire line connection is also complete. Crews planned to pour the new sidewalk and reopen the route before school began.
Commons
Roof work above the commons has reached several major milestones. The new roof membrane and structural roof upgrades are complete, and new roof drains have been installed.
Inside the commons, the temporary wall separating students from the construction area is complete. Ceiling tile and grid repairs have also been completed, allowing the commons to reopen at the start of school.
Work is continuing on tile installation at the learning stair, along with repairs to the surrounding flooring. A temporary accessible ramp and a pedestrian stair handrail were installed on August 11 to support circulation through the area while construction continues.
Dixon Middle School Demolition
Demolition Progress
Demolition at Dixon Middle School has advanced substantially. Aerial images from the August 11 presentation show large sections of the building removed, leaving exposed concrete slabs, foundations, and piles of structural debris across the site.
Crews are using excavators to break down remaining sections of the structure and move concrete, brick, metal, wood, and other demolition material. Trucks and trailers are also being used as debris removal and site clearing continue.
