An exterior rendering for the new Spanish Fork Temple has been revealed, according to a report published October 5. The project, which is the 32nd temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Utah, is expected to be a multi-story, 80,000 square foot building.
The temple will be constructed on an 8.7-acre site located at the corner of 100 South and 2550 East. This location is situated directly across the street from Maple Mountain High School. The proximity to the high school is described as a strategic decision intended to engage the younger generation with the faith.
With a footprint of 80,000 square feet, the Spanish Fork Temple will be among the larger temples in the state. For comparison, the recently announced Lindon Utah Temple is slightly larger at 90,000 square feet. The larger size of the Spanish Fork location is intended to provide greater capacity to accommodate a growing community.
The development of the Spanish Fork Temple reflects a broader trend of the church announcing new temples in close proximity to schools and universities. This approach is viewed as a proactive and community-oriented strategy to reach out to younger populations amidst a changing religious landscape. Beyond serving as a place of worship, the temple is intended to act as a hub for community activities and engagement to foster a sense of belonging among members.
