Course Profile and Design
The championship course at Black Desert Resort, which hosted the event, is a 7,500-yard championship course designed by Tom Weiskopf. The course is characterized by its location within a Southern Utah landscape composed of black lava fields and vermilion red cliffs.
According to Black Desert Resort, the course features diverse hole designs, including a par 5 at hole 7 that is described as a long, semi-blind hole with lava islands near a protected green. The course also includes a unique double green shared by hole 2 and hole 8, which is set within a lava field. The facility provides various amenities for players, including a Trackman-enabled driving range, a chipping green, and a 36-hole putting green.
Community Investment and Grants
Prior to the tournament's conclusion, the Bank of Utah Championship announced a substantial financial commitment to local community initiatives. On Oct. 2, 2026, the organization announced investments totaling $438,718.52 intended to benefit The Policy Project, First Tee – Utah, and the Utah Golf Legacy Fund.
Of that total, the Utah Golf Legacy Fund received $303,508.42, which included a $100,000 investment from the Utah Golf Association. The fund is designed to provide a pathway for promising junior golfers who face financial barriers, offering reimbursement grants for expenses such as tournament entry fees, travel, equipment, practice, green fees, and coaching. Additionally, the Championship awarded the 2026 Utah State Amateur champion, Bowen Mauss, a sponsor exemption into the Bank of Utah Championship.
Youth and Teen Support
The investment program also provided $75,000 to The Policy Project to support its work with Teen Centers. This partnership, which began during the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship, focuses on the development of the Teen Finance Lab. These centers serve students across Utah by providing food, clothing, hygiene supplies, laundry facilities, and safe spaces.
Furthermore, First Tee – Utah received an investment of $60,210.10 to support its programs that use golf to help young people build character, confidence, and life skills. These investments were bolstered by matching support of $118,718.52 from Utah Youth Sports Giving Day and the Miller Sports + Entertainment Group.
Tournament Legacy and Resort Details
The Bank of Utah Championship's return to the Black Desert Resort follows the historic debut of the tournament in 2024, which was the first PGA TOUR event held in Utah in more than 60 years.
Ben Browning, Chairman and CEO of Bank of Utah, stated that the championship provides a platform to invest in young people as they pursue their futures. The resort, which serves as the host site, spans over 600 acres and includes 549 rooms and suites, seven dining venues, and extensive meeting and event spaces.
