Weber State head coach Eric Kjar said his team is focused on playing with maximum effort this week as the Wildcats travel to face No. 3 Montana State, according to a October 22 report. Kjar noted that while the team acknowledges the significance of facing the defending national champions, the team's preparation and process will remain consistent regardless of the opponent.
The upcoming matchup features a Montana State team with a 6-1 record that recently defeated Eastern Washington 56-20. Weber State enters the game as a three-touchdown underdog. Both Weber State and Montana State are currently atop the Big Sky conference alongside Northern Arizona, with all three teams holding one loss.
Coach Kjar emphasized that the team's consistent investment in practice, strength training, and meetings is a primary factor in their success. He stated that the players' diligence during the week helps them fight to the end of games because they know they have invested heavily in their preparation.
The Wildcats' roster faces several injury updates heading into the game. Fifth-year safety Trevian Tribble is expected to return to the lineup after missing the Idaho State game due to complications from strep. Additionally, fifth-year receiver Marvin Session is recovering from a hamstring injury and is considered day-to-day.
At the quarterback position, Devin Brown continues to work toward returning from a hand injury involving a dislocated pinky on his throwing hand. If Brown is not cleared for this week's game, the position will be filled by either sophomore Kingston Tisdell or freshman Nate Dahle.
Weber State is currently on track for its best season since 2022. Five of the team's eight games have been decided by a single score or in overtime, including an 11-point victory over Idaho.
The Wildcats will travel to face the Bobcats to continue Big Sky conference play.
