Wiseguys Comedy Club in Ogden has announced a strict new policy refusing admission to anyone holding tickets purchased from third-party resale sites. The venue's policy, confirmed Aug. 7, aims to prevent fraud by requiring guests to use only official platforms for guaranteed entry.
Strict Admission Policies
The Ogden-based comedy club stated that tickets from unauthorized sites such as Vivid Seats, SeatGeek, StubHub, and Craigslist will result in denied admission. To ensure entry, the venue is directing customers to purchase tickets exclusively through its own website or via Seatengine.com.
Wiseguys Ogden, which was opened in 2003 by comedian Keith Stubbs, operates in the Historic Ogden district on 25th Street. The venue has hosted high-profile comedians including Bill Burr, Maria Bamford, Norm MacDonald, and Marlon Wayans.
Legal Framework for Tickets
The crackdown on unauthorized resale follows long-standing legal frameworks regarding ticket transfers in the state. Under the Utah Ticket Transferability Act, which has been effective since Jan. 1, 2020, the state has established guidelines for the commerce and trade of tickets.
While the code provides a legal basis for how tickets are handled, local venues like Wiseguys are increasingly relying on private admission policies to protect their revenue and ensure the validity of customer entries during live performances.
Upcoming Performances
Wiseguys Ogden is scheduled to host several upcoming performances through the end of the year, including Comedy Hypnosis with John Moyer on Aug. 7 and 8. Other scheduled performers for the remainder of the summer and fall include Kari Bristow, Jeff Allen, Alaina Hirschi, and Dustin Anderson.
