The Timpview boys golf team secured the Class 5A state championship at Bountiful Ridge on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, overcoming significant weather challenges. The tournament was shortened after officials deemed the course unplayable following the completion of the first round on Tuesday.
The tournament faced disruptions due to an unusually wet fall, including rain, wind, and thick fog. Competitors were unable to finish the first round on Monday, October 12, 2026, due to the weather and returned to complete it on Tuesday. After the first round was finished, officials canceled the second round because the course was deemed unplayable.
Timpview finished with a team score of 276, recording four birdies and four eagles. This victory marks the school's 13th team title and its first since 2015. The T-Birds' lineup included Nick Miller, senior Calvin Lillywhite, junior Asher Runia, and sophomores Christian Whitmore, Zac Rust, and Charlie Jeppson.
Freshman Nick Miller earned individual medalist honors with a score of 62 (-9). Miller, the son of BYU director of golf Todd Miller and grandson of former PGA legend Johnny Miller, recorded an eagle on the first hole and birdied holes 11, 12, 13, and 18.
Calvin Lillywhite finished second individually with a score of 66 (-5). Jace Anderson of Spanish Fork took third at 68 (-3), followed by Wyatt Biagi of Olympus in fourth at 69 (-2). Several players tied for fifth at 70 (-1), including Luke Manning of Fremont, Derek Harris of Spanish Fork, Christian Whitmore of Timpview, Chase Dalton of Viewmont, and Corver Barnes of Viewmont.
Spanish Fork finished in second place with a team score of 280 (-4). Olympus took third with 292 (+8), while Skyline placed fourth with 293 (+9), and Fremont finished fifth with 296 (+12).
Head coach Jeff Ward noted that Timpview's success was aided by playing in a tough region, mentioning that Spanish Fork finished second in Region 7 and was only beaten by three strokes over eight tournaments. Timpview's previous state championship titles were won in 1979-83, 1985, 1987-90, 2013, and 2015.
With only one senior on the roster, coach Ward suggested the T-Birds are expected to remain competitive next season. He attributed the team's success to offseason preparation and participation in competitive junior golf tournaments during the summer.
