The Lindquist Family Symphony Pops Concert will feature a display of 5-hundred drones instead of the event's traditional fireworks show this year. The shift to drones is intended to allow audiences to enjoy the evening while aligning with statewide efforts to minimize fire risk.
The annual celebration, which has been held every summer at Weber State University since 1978, will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The performance will feature the New American Philharmonic at the Ada Lindquist Plaza. The program includes Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, which utilizes a battery of 16 cannons provided by the Cannoneers of the Wasatch. The evening will conclude with illuminated drones flying in sync to a soundtrack.
John E. Lindquist, president of Lindquist Mortuaries and Cemeteries in Ogden, continues the tradition that was established thanks to John A. and Telitha E. Lindquist. Food trucks and other vendors will be available on site for refreshments.
Attendees should be aware of several traffic and campus restrictions for the event. The roundabouts at Harrison Boulevard and Dixon Drive will be closed to traffic, though vehicles can access the campus via Skyline Drive and Taylor Avenue.
Interior campus roads and parking lots, including A1 and A10, will be closed starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 11. Portions of W8, A9, and the public pay lot will also be blocked. Guests are prohibited from leaving blankets, chairs, or saving spaces before 6 p.m. on July 11, as items placed on the lawn before that time will be removed.
Several items are not allowed at the event, including personal fireworks, tarps, stakes, tent pegs, pets (with the exception of service animals), and any form of flyers or advertising. Visitors are asked to tidy up their areas following the conclusion of the event.
