Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George finalized a five-year rookie scale extension on Friday, according to a September 20 report. The agreement, which has a base value of $155 million plus $500,000 in annual incentives, is set to begin in the 2027/28 season and run through 2031/32. The contract does not include a player or team option.
In a report by Shreyas Laddha of The Salt Lake Tribune, George is expected to earn approximately $28.7 million during the first season of the extension. The deal features 4% annual raises rather than the maximum allowable 8%, a decision attributed to the salary cap rising only 5-6% in recent seasons.
George's extension includes five $100,000 bonuses each season. One incentive is tied to playing 65 regular season games, while others are based on playoff series wins. Laddha also noted the inclusion of a small bonus related to team defense while George is on the court.
The 22-year-old guard stated at a press conference on Saturday that the decision to sign the extension was a no-brainer because he considers Utah to be his second family. The negotiations for the deal reportedly took place over several months throughout the summer.
The commitment to George follows a breakout 2025/26 season in which he averaged 23.6 points, 6.1 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 54 appearances. The Jazz are aiming for their first playoff berth since 2021/22 this season.
