Officials warned that fires could catch and spread quickly under these conditions, urging residents to exercise extreme caution with outdoor burning.

The high fire risk coincides with ongoing drought conditions in Carbon County. Data from Drought.gov as of June 12 showed that 100% of the population in Carbon County is affected by drought, a status that has remained unchanged since last week and last month.

While May was recorded as the 46th wettest May in 132 years for Carbon County—measuring 0.13 inches above normal—the year to date remains the 41st driest on record. The January through May 2026 period showed a decrease of 1.12 inches from normal precipitation levels.
