Utah Valley men's soccer defeated No. 21 Oregon State 1-0 on Oct. 24, 2026, to secure a victory on Senior Night. Jose Luis Martin Montealegre scored his sixth goal of the season to help the Wolverines (9-2-3) shut out an offense that entered the match ranked eighth in the nation.
The victory marks Utah Valley's first home win against a ranked opponent since 2017. The Wolverines' defense has not allowed a goal at home since Sept. 4 against Omaha, having surrendered only one home goal throughout the season.
In the 84th minute, Montealegre scored on a pass from Nil Grau following a give-and-go with Luca Wingaa Laursen. Before the goal, Oregon State's Wyatt Borso had a shot strike the left post in the 25th minute, but the Beavers were held to just two shots on frame.
The Utah Valley women's team also earned a victory, defeating UC Santa Barbara 4-0 in a road win on Oct. 24, 2026. Sadie Beardall contributed one goal and two assists, helping the Wolverines reach an 11-4-3 overall record.
Sam Curtis scored the opening goal in the 61st minute, followed by goals from Beardall, Addie Olson, and Brynlee Wood. The women's team dominated the match with a 26-8 advantage in total shots and a 12-3 advantage in shots on goal.
The men's soccer team's performance keeps them in contention for the Big West title. Following a win by UC Irvine over UC Santa Barbara, the Wolverines require at least a draw next Saturday at Cal State Bakersfield to share the title or a win to secure it outright.
The women's team returns to Orem to host Long Beach State on Wednesday night at UCCU Stadium. Kickoff for that match is set for 6 p.m.
