State Route 190 in Big Cottonwood Canyon remained closed as of midnight Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, while Utah Department of Transportation crews worked to clear debris at Storm Mountain. An estimated time for the road to reopen was unknown.
UDOT initially restricted uphill traffic on Sunday, Oct. 11, due to flooding and debris on the roadway, which required turning vehicles around at the canyon mouth. Crews were working to clear debris from a culvert located at Storm Mountain near milepost 4.25 before the full road closure was announced. Downhill traffic was being rerouted through Guardsman Pass, according to UDOT Cottonwood Canyons.
The Utah Department of Transportation has not provided a timeline for when the highway will be reopened to traffic.
