Hyrum State Park has announced new restrictions and capacity limits due to limited surface water. Beginning Saturday, August 1, boat capacity will be limited to the regular boat parking lot of 35 spaces on weekends through Labor Day.
Stage 2 fire restrictions are currently in effect, prohibiting open fires of any kind. This prohibition includes fires within established fire pits, charcoal grills, pellet grills, and ash-producing fuel. The only exception is for properly shielded gas or liquid-fueled portable camp stoves with a shut-off valve, provided they are used in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren with no flammable vegetation.
At the Hyrum Boat Ramp, the boat ramp, docks, and fish cleaning station remain available. However, the AIS decontamination machine is currently unavailable due to repairs. Restrooms at the boat ramp are open and cleaned daily. The area is mowed on Wednesdays, with the picnic area being watered every other night. To conserve water, the entrance lawn is watered once a week at night.
At the swim beach, motorized boats are prohibited within the boats keep out buoys. The pedestrian dock and restrooms are available and cleaned daily. Mowing occurs on Wednesdays, with the area near the beach receiving water every other night. The top entrance lawn is watered once a week at night to conserve water.
The Hyrum State Park campground requires reservations for availability. Restrooms and showers are open and cleaned daily, and dumpsters are emptied on Thursdays. Mowing is typically conducted between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to coincide with guest check-out. Watering in vacant sites occurs between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. in compliance with Hyrum City secondary water restrictions.
