The Babylon Fire in the Manti-La Sal National Forest is currently 95% contained, according to recent incident data. The wildfire has grown to an estimated size of 107,189 acres.
Due to public safety concerns and the need to assist suppression efforts for the Babylon Fire, the Bureau of Land Management has implemented a fire prevention order. This amended order was issued on July 16, 2026.
As part of this order, certain BLM lands managed by the Monticello Field Office are closed to public entry. The closures include all BLM-managed lands located west of Harts Draw Road and south of State Route 211. This also encompasses the Shay Mesa area and extends west into Beef Basin, Dark Canyon, and Sweet Alice.
Additionally, the Brushy Basin Road is closed from the Forest Service Boundary north to Peter’s Point.
