The Ogden City Fire Department is scheduled to host a Fire Prevention Open House on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Station 1, located at 2186 Lincoln Avenue. According to a October 5 report, the event provides an opportunity for the public to connect with local first responders and learn about fire prevention.
Ogden City Fire Marshal Brandon Parr stated in an email that the event is designed to invite the community to meet firefighters, explore department offerings, and learn how to keep families and the community safe. This year's campaign focuses on batteries under the theme Safe Charging is a Superpower, which builds on the focus from the previous year to highlight the importance of safe battery and charging practices.
Several community partners will participate in the event. Rocky Mountain Power will provide a demonstration, and the Utah Highway Patrol will bring its Seat Belt Convincer. Additionally, the Ogden Fire Rescue team is scheduled to perform a rope-rescue demonstration. The evening will also include safety demonstrations and various family activities.
Attendees can participate in fire truck rides by providing a canned food donation to benefit Catholic Community Services. Parr noted that the primary function of the evening is to bring residents closer to the first responders serving them, offering a chance to showcase the capabilities and history of Ogden Fire while sharing a passion for serving the people of Ogden.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) develops annual campaign themes for fire departments across the country to provide consistent, data-driven fire-safety education. These campaigns utilize emerging technologies, trends, and injury data to direct educational resources to where they are needed most.
