Duchesne County is accepting applications for a part-time justice court judge position, according to an August 19 statement. The position will serve Duchesne County, Utah, and is being filled following the resignation of Judge E. Jed Labrum.
Candidates for the judgeship must be at least 25 years of age and a citizen of the United States. Requirements include being a Utah resident for at least three years and holding a degree from a law school that allows for bar admission in any state in the United States. Additionally, applicants must reside in Duchesne County or an adjacent county either upon appointment or before taking the bench.
Applications must be submitted online at justicecourtvacancies.utah.gov before the deadline. The minimum salary for the role is $40,905, which does not include benefits. The deadline for applications is Friday, September 18, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
Under Utah law, the Duchesne County Justice Court Nominating Commission must submit at least three nominees to Commissioner Greg Miles, the chair of the Duchesne County Commission, within 45 days of its first meeting. Miles has 30 days to make a selection, which must then be ratified by the Duchesne County Commission and certified by the Utah Judicial Council.
