La Verkin City is situated on the north banks of the Virgin River, positioned south of Toquerville and opposite Hurricane City. The city serves as a central point within the Grand Circle region, located 20 miles from Zion National Park, 106 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park, and 125 miles from Grand Canyon National Park.
Status of local mineral springs
The La Verkin Pah Tempe Hot Mineral Springs are located in the Timpoweap Canyon just south of the community. While these springs were historically used by local Native Americans and early settlers for healing and relaxation, they are currently closed. In late 2018, Washington County, La Verkin City, Hurricane, and the Water Conservancy District began conducting a feasibility study regarding the reopening of the springs for public use.
Historical agricultural significance
Historically referred to as the Beautiful Valley, the area is known for rich farmlands that once filled the La Verkin bench between the Hurricane Fault to the east and the La Verkin Creek to the west.
