Christopher Price has been appointed to the Vineyard City Council to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Ezra Nair, the City of Vineyard announced Tuesday. The appointment follows a public vacancy process that included applicant interviews and an open meeting held on Sept. 15, 2026.
Council Finalizes Appointment
The appointment of Price was finalized during a public meeting held on Sept. 15, 2026, at the City Council Chambers located at 125 South Main Street. During the session, the City Council voted to appoint Price to serve the remainder of the unexpired term vacated by Nair.
Terms and Responsibilities
According to a public notice from the City of Vineyard, Price will serve on the council through the end of the current term, which concludes on Dec. 31, 2027. Upon his appointment, Price is required to take the Oath of Office to be officially seated as a member of the council.
In a statement released Sept. 16, 2026, the City of Vineyard noted that Price brings a commitment to public service and community involvement. He is expected to work alongside the Mayor and the rest of the City Council to represent Vineyard residents and advance the city's strategic priorities.
Filling the Vacancy
The vacancy was originally created by the resignation of City Council member Ezra Nair. Following the resignation, the city initiated a formal appointment process as required by Utah law governing municipal vacancies. This process included providing public notice of the vacancy and reviewing qualified applicants.
Application Requirements
To qualify for the seat, candidates were required to be registered voters and must have resided within the City of Vineyard for twelve consecutive months immediately prior to the date of appointment, pursuant to Utah Code § 10-3-301.
Interested individuals were required to submit a full application to the City Recorder, Robin Bond, along with a $50 filing fee. The deadline for these applications was 12:00 PM on Sept. 11, 2026. While applications were required, the city also encouraged candidates to submit a letter containing a statement of interest and a summary of their qualifications.
Selection Process
During the appointment process, the City Council conducted interviews with each qualified individual who had submitted an application. These interviews were held during an open meeting to evaluate each candidate's qualifications and fitness for the office, in accordance with the procedures outlined in UCA § 20A-1-510.
