Types of emergency drills
The school outlined several types of emergency drills practiced throughout the year. These included Hold, where students remained in classrooms to continue school as usual, and Secure, which involved locking exterior and interior doors to provide safety from threats outside the building.
Additional safety and shelter protocols
Other protocols included Evacuate, where teachers led students to designated meeting areas for threats inside the building, and Shelter in Place, used for events such as floods or earthquakes. The school also utilized Lockdown procedures for active threats inside the building, involving closed and locked classrooms.
Student pickup and reunification procedures
During reunification circumstances requiring a controlled release, parents or guardians were notified to pick up students. The school required identification for student pickup and noted that only individuals listed on the school emergency card were permitted to collect students.
Available parent resources and policies
Additional resources were available to parents, including information on oral health, dental health, dress code, and attendance. The school also provided access to policies regarding bullying, hazing, FERPA, and technology acceptable use. For safety concerns, the school directed individuals to contact Mr. Andersen directly.
