The Utah Department of Transportation announced on September 10, 2026, that drivers should prepare for a weekend ramp closure on State Route 201 in Tooele County. This closure, intended for pothole patching on two SR-201 bridges, was scheduled to run from 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, until 3 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 14.
To access SR-201 during the closure, drivers were advised to continue on eastbound I-80 and exit at eastbound SR-202 (Exit 104) to rejoin eastbound SR-201. In addition to the weekend ramp closure, nightly lane closures were scheduled on SR-201 near 9180 West every Monday through Thursday night to facilitate repairs to the 9200 West bridge. Work on both bridges is expected to be completed by mid-October.

On Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 p.m. through Sunday, Sept. 13, at 8 a.m., crews were scheduled to install new steel beams on I-84 in Riverdale using a crane. This work required the closure and detour of westbound I-84, while eastbound I-84 remained open with traffic reduced to one lane. Additionally, 4400 South was scheduled to close between the roundabouts.
On Friday, Sept. 11, and Friday, Sept. 18, the on-ramp to eastbound I-80 at East Canyon (Exit 134) was scheduled to close overnight from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for utility work. Drivers heading east on I-80 were advised to use Exit 132 (1320 South) to turn around.
On State Street near the Utah State Capitol, a closure was scheduled between North Temple and 300 North beginning Monday, Sept. 14, through the end of November for Pioneer Trail work. This round-the-clock closure will allow travel at the North Temple and 300 North intersections, but drivers cannot travel on State Street between them and should use Main Street as an alternate route.
UDOT noted that construction schedules remain weather-dependent and subject to change. Drivers can find updates via the UDOT Traffic website or mobile app.
