Two people were hospitalized, with one person in critical condition, after a pickup truck and a semi-truck collided Friday evening in the area locally known as Sardine Canyon. The accident occurred near mile marker 11 on U.S. 89/91, according to a report published October 10.
Utah Highway Patrol agent Kyley Tobler stated that the crash occurred when the pickup truck pulled out from a mine and turned in front of the semi-truck. The collision took place at approximately 5:45 p.m., according to Logan City police dispatch.
One individual was transported to a hospital via helicopter in critical condition. Emergency crews responded to the scene to treat the injured, investigate the collision, and clear the wreckage.
The collision caused the closure of southbound lanes near the canyon summit. While northbound traffic remained open, motorists were warned of possible delays. At one point during the incident, only one lane was open for northbound travel on the two-lane highway.
Additional information regarding the identity of the drivers and the specific circumstances surrounding the crash was not immediately available.
