Weber County is partnering with the Utah Office of Energy Development to host a community symposium exploring the potential role of nuclear energy in Weber County. The event is scheduled for August 5, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center.
As the population, economy, and energy needs of Utah continue to grow, local communities are evaluating innovative energy solutions that support long-term sustainability, reliability, affordability, and economic opportunity.
The symposium will feature a community energy expo containing informational booths and interactive exhibits. This will be followed by panel discussions and keynote presentations focused on workforce readiness, economic development opportunities, and nuclear energy feasibility.
Stephanie Russell, who serves as the Weber County Economic Development director and government relations liaison, stated that the goal of the event is to create a community-driven conversation. She noted that the event invites stakeholders, local businesses, educators, residents, and workforce partners to participate in shaping the energy future of Utah by asking questions and learning.
The event is part of a statewide grassroots initiative from the Utah Office of Energy Development designed to encourage informed decision-making and fact-based discussion.
