According to an arrest document filed by a Tooele City Police officer, Arend called dispatch and stated he had killed his wife. Upon entering the residence, officers found the victim alive with multiple stab wounds. A red-handled knife was discovered next to the bed at the scene.
In the arrest documents, Arend reportedly stated he used the knife and stabbed the victim until she stopped screaming. He also allegedly told officers he had been thinking about killing her for a week.
