A 19-year-old man from Nevada died Thursday following a drowning incident at Sand Hollow State Park in Utah, according to a report published August 7.
Officials stated the man was swimming at the Sand Hollow Reservoir near the dive park when he went under water around 3 p.m.
According to the Utah DNR Division of Law Enforcement, bystanders pulled the man from the reservoir and performed life-saving measures. Despite these efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials added that the man was not wearing a life jacket when the incident occurred.
The Utah DNR Division of Law Enforcement praised the bystanders who assisted during the incident. The department also recognized the response from the Hurricane Valley Fire/EMS team and Intermountain Life Flight.
