The City of Ogden is managing several funded projects at the airport, including significant terminal expansions and air traffic control tower upgrades. These developments are part of a broader series of infrastructure improvements involving maintenance complexes and airfield enhancements.
Terminal expansion details and timeline
The expansion of the Ogden Airport Terminal is scheduled for completion in December 2024. Construction for this phase began in November 2023 following an RFP process in October 2023. The project includes several structural and safety changes, such as the removal of existing ADA restrooms to create a new fire-code required exit path and the construction of two new ADA restrooms.
Administrative changes and TSA upgrades
Additionally, the old airport administrative offices will be demolished to make way for multiple airline check-in counters and baggage roller tables for TSA screening. The project also involves removing asbestos-containing floor tile and lead-based paint from the lobby area. Other planned upgrades include a new TSA passenger screening checkpoint with two lanes, a large meeting room in place of the terminal basement, and 2,000 square feet of new administrative office space on a second floor.
New air traffic control tower
A new 120-foot air traffic control tower is also part of the airport's long-term planning. This project, which is 100% funded and managed by the FAA, entered its design phase in 2024, with construction slated for 2025 and a projected completion in 2026.
Maintenance and utility infrastructure updates
Maintenance complex and west side improvements have also seen recent activity. The creation of the West Side Entrance Road was completed in November 2022, and utilities upgrades involving gas, sewage, power, water, and telecommunications were noted as ongoing during 2023.
Recently completed airport projects
Several other airport projects have reached completion recently. These include the replacement of windsocks and lighting in June 2023, the upgrade of the segmented circle in June 2023, and the construction of a fiber optic network loop for data transmission which was completed in December 2021.
