Buena Vista Boulevard is undergoing significant transformations as part of ongoing development in Washington. The frontage road has been fully improved and widened to five lanes from Main Street to Green Spring Drive, according to a message from Mayor Kress Staheli.
New commercial developments are shaping the landscape north of I-15. A building pad has been constructed for a new 84,000 square foot WinCo Foods located at the southwest corner of Buena Vista and Main. This site will also include two additional buildings of approximately 6,000 square feet each for retail, restaurant, or service uses.
A new 19,540 square foot OneHealth medical clinic is also under construction in the area, intended to bring primary medical care back to the city. Additionally, a traffic signal is budgeted for installation this fiscal year at the entrance to Brio Parkway.
Other notable developments include the Buena Vista Commercial Complex, which features nine recently completed building pads with utilities and roads ready for construction. Near Panera Bread, a new office building is nearing completion that will house Cypress Credit Union and professional offices. Near the Green Spring Golf course, a Homewood Suites by Hilton is currently under construction, joining the existing Springhill Suites and Residence Inn by Marriott.
The city is also expanding its trail network to connect historic landmarks, including The Boilers and The Cotton Factory located at Star Nursery. The new trail section will run between I-15 and Buena Vista from Main Street to Mill Creek, eventually following the creek to Nisson Park.
These developments aim to offer new uses and benefits to the community while preserving the scenic views of Pine Valley Mountain and the Red Cliffs that characterize the area.
