Lake Mountain School District has been selected by the Utah State Board of Education as a recipient of an APEX Center Planning Grant for fiscal year 2027.
The district is one of nine local education agencies chosen to receive a planning grant through the Applied Professional Education Experiences—or APEX—Grant Program.
The APEX Grant Program is designed to support the development of profession-based learning centers. These centers aim to connect classroom instruction with real-world workforce experiences to help students explore career pathways, develop hands-on skills, and earn industry-recognized credentials. The program seeks to prepare students for success in college, career, and life.
Through this planning process, Lake Mountain will explore how an APEX Center could serve its students. The goal is to align educational opportunities with regional workforce needs, Utah’s career and technical education goals, and partnerships with local industries and community organizations.
Across Utah, 22 local education agencies received approximately $99 million in planning and implementation funding through the program. Grant proposals were evaluated through a competitive review process that considered community and industry partnerships, workforce alignment, sustainable program models, and measurable student outcomes.
This grant serves as an initial step toward creating innovative, career-connected learning opportunities for students in the Lake Mountain School District. Additional updates will be shared as the planning process progresses.
