Southern Utah University offers a seven-week certificate program titled Introduction to Animal Services. This online learning experience is designed to provide an awareness and understanding of contemporary animal services as a profession through a 29-hour curriculum.
The curriculum includes online modules, assessments, reading reflections, and a summary paper. Students study the history of animal welfare in the United States, the role of animal shelters, contemporary animal services, and community animal services data. The course aims to build a learning community focused on the profession.
Participants can choose between two options. The Introduction to Animal Services Certificate costs $399 and provides one Continuing Education Unit (CEU) and an SUU Institutional Certificate. The Introduction to Animal Services Fast Track costs $799 and provides three credits that may articulate into participating master's degree programs or undergraduate programs at Southern Utah University.
The course is currently offered in English only. While the material is in English, most browsers provide translation features to assist users in other languages.
