The Utah Senate Majority Caucus has announced the election of its leadership team for the 66th Legislature.
The newly elected leadership includes President Sen. J. Stuart Adams, Majority Leader Sen. Kirk Cullimore, Majority Whip Sen. Chris Wilson, and Majority Assistant Whip Sen. Michael McKell.
President J. Stuart Adams stated that Utah serves as a beacon of hope due to its strong economy and strategic growth, though he noted that more work remains to be done. He said the Senate will continue to develop policies intended to ensure the state thrives for future generations.
Reflecting on the past six years, the Senate has implemented several initiatives, such as providing the largest direct increase to teacher compensation in state history, cutting taxes by more than $1.3 billion, and doubling education funding. Other actions included enacting school choice, implementing nearly $1 billion for water conservation and infrastructure, and establishing the First-Time Homebuyer Assistance Program to maintain homeownership affordability.
The Senate has also worked on protecting children from addictive social media applications and investing in energy solutions to promote independence and lower electricity costs.
During the 2025 General Session, senators intend to focus on several key areas, including increasing energy independence, strengthening water optimization and development, and supporting students and teachers.
Additionally, the Senate plans to work toward protecting children from social media harms, improving affordability for Utahns, and investing in infrastructure projects to manage the state's growth.
