Campus Guardian Angel has announced a partnership with John Adams Academy Douglas County to launch its first Active Shooter Suppression System. Located in Sterling Ranch, Colorado, the tuition-free public classical charter school will be the first public school in the state to implement the technology, with installation planned for August 2026.
The system utilizes drones that are stationed on campus and designed to deploy within seconds of a verified threat. These drones are operated remotely by pilots with backgrounds in law enforcement, military service, or drone racing. The technology is intended to provide live audio and video to support school safety teams and first responders.
To assist in managing active threats, the drones can use non-lethal effects including sirens, flashing lights, kinetic hits, and pepper gel. The system aims to help locate, distract, delay, and disrupt an assailant during the initial moments of an emergency while law enforcement is en route.
Justin Marston, CEO and Co-Founder of Campus Guardian Angel, stated that the company was built to provide schools with visibility, time, and the ability to degrade a threat within seconds. He noted that the partnership with John Adams Academy demonstrates the leadership required for school safety.
John Adams Academy Douglas County is a tuition-free public classical charter school scheduled to open grades K-8 in the fall of 2026, with future plans to expand to a full K-12 campus.
Sarah Kiesewetter, the founding headmaster of the academy, said the school aims to provide an environment where students can feel safe every day. Kim Gilmartin, co-founder and vice chair of the school's Board of Directors, added that the board is committed to ensuring student security and providing peace of mind to parents.
