The Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments (SEUALG) has launched the Small Business Recovery Grant Program to provide financial assistance to small businesses negatively impacted by COVID-19. The program is funded through the State of Utah Small Cities CDBG Program, which received additional funding via the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
The grant program aims to support businesses located within Carbon, Emery, Grand, and San Juan Counties that were hit hardest by the COVID-19 outbreak. Eligible businesses can apply for amounts ranging from a minimum of $5,000 up to $25,000 each.
Applicants must complete an online application that explains financial losses resulting from the pandemic. The application must also detail other financial assistance received from agencies or organizations, such as the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL), or county CARES Act business grants.
Upon approval of a grant, businesses are required to complete online training through Utah State University. The costs for this training are covered by the CDBG Small Business Recovery Grant Program. This training focuses on financial literacy and resiliency to provide business owners with skills to manage finances and handle future challenges.
