Duchesne County is accepting applications for a part-time justice court judge position following the resignation of Judge E. Jed Labrum, according to an Aug. 19 announcement.
Candidates must be at least 25 years old, a United States citizen, and have been a Utah resident for at least three years. Applicants must also hold a law degree that makes them eligible for admission to a state bar in the United States. Additionally, candidates must reside in Duchesne County or an adjacent county either upon appointment or before taking office.
Applications must be completed online at justicecourtvacancies.utah.gov before Friday, September 18, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The minimum salary offered is $40,905 without benefits.
According to Utah law, the Duchesne County Justice Court Nominating Commission must submit at least three nominees to Commissioner Greg Miles, chair of the Duchesne County Commission, within 45 days of its first meeting. Commissioner Miles then has 30 days to select from those nominees. The final selection requires ratification by the Duchesne County Commission and certification by the Utah Judicial Council.
