Utah State men's basketball showcased an explosive offense on Saturday night at University Credit Union Pavilion in Moraga, Calif., defeating Saint Mary's 97-89 in exhibition play. This victory marked the second of three exhibition games for the Aggies before the official start of the 2026-27 regular season.
The Aggies played the contest shorthanded without reigning Mountain West Player of the Year Mason Falslev, who missed the game due to a lower body injury. Sophomore Kingston Tosi led the Aggies in scoring with 22 points in 32 minutes, shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Tosi also recorded six boards, an assist, and three steals during the win.
Three other Utah State players reached double figures. Graduate guard Dallin Hall recorded 16 points, five rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Sophomore guard Brayden Boe finished with 15 points and five boards, while junior guard Solomon Callaghan scored 10 points. Utah State shot 54.0 percent from the field and 79.3 percent from the free throw line during the game.
The game featured significant scoring runs from both sides. Utah State opened the game with a strong performance, scoring 20 of the first 30 points to establish an early lead. Although Saint Mary's briefly took the lead with a 12-0 run, the Aggies responded with a 14-2 run to end the first half, entering the locker room with a 44-34 advantage.
In the second half, Utah State established a 48-35 lead before a 17-6 scoring streak allowed them to regain command. The Aggies ultimately held a multi-possession lead for the remainder of the game, scoring 52 of their 97 points in the paint.
In the past two seasons, the Saint Mary's Gaels have maintained a 33-1 record at home. Their only regular-season loss during that period was to Utah State on Dec. 22, 2024.
Utah State will host Santa Clara for its third and final exhibition contest on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Aggies' official 2026-27 regular season begins Nov. 2 against Idaho State.
