Washington County will host a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class starting January 7, 2025, in the Saint George area, according to a notice on the city website.
The training aims to provide community members with essential skills in emergency preparedness and response.
CERT is a nationwide program designed to teach residents how to care for their families, friends, and neighbors during a disaster. The program is intended to prepare individuals to remain calm and ready for various situations.
Following a major natural or man-made disaster, emergency resources are often quickly depleted. Graduates of the CERT program are trained to best care for themselves, their loved ones, and their community.
Officials are collaborating with several jurisdictions to develop a joint, multi-jurisdictional C.E.R.T. training program. Details regarding these efforts will be posted as they become available.
Interest in the upcoming Saint George area class is expected to be high, as spaces are limited and expected to fill quickly.
