Utah State cross country is scheduled to wrap up its regular season on Oct. 16 at the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana. Both the men's and women's teams will compete in the blue championship race at the Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
The scheduled events include the women's 6k at 8 a.m. and the men's 8k at 8:40 a.m. This marks the Aggies' second trip to Indiana State this season, following the men's squad's 13th-place finish at the John McNichols Invitational last month. During that meet, junior Garrett Woodhouse secured a 33th-place individual result, helping the team surpass four of the 14 ranked opponents in the field. The women's team will make its first appearance at the Lavern Gibson course, which is scheduled to host the NCAA Championships in November.
The Aggies enter the invitational following a strong performance at the Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational, where they achieved a season sweep. Freshman Stockton Stevens won the men's 7k, while senior Sarah Ellis won the women's 5k by more than 40 seconds. The men's squad also secured the top four places during that race. Across five race weekends, Utah State has combined for five team victories, including perfect 15-point days from both squads at the Bengal Invitational and the Utah State Alumni Challenge.
In the national polls, the Aggie men are receiving votes in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll after a three-week period in the top 30. The men are currently sixth in the Mountain Regional standings, while the women's team is ranked eighth. The Mountain Region is noted for its competitiveness, containing three teams in the men's top five and four teams in the women's top ten.
The Aggies have secured multiple individual titles this season, including wins by seniors Natalie Swain and Jedidiah Megargel at the Utah State Alumni Challenge, and senior Joshua McKeestood at the Mike Baumer XC Classic. Six different Aggies have contributed individual titles across three race distances this year.
