Chapinlandia Restaurant is now open across from Taylorsville City Hall, offering authentic Guatemalan dishes and Central American snacks. The establishment includes a small market featuring various products from Central America.
Taylorsville City and ChamberWest officials celebrated the restaurant's grand opening with a ribbon cutting on Aug. 28. The business began as a store selling snacks and goods before expanding to include fried chicken on weekends. This growth led the owners to a larger space in Taylorsville to accommodate their vision for a combined restaurant and market.
Mayor Kristie Overson noted at a recent City Council meeting that the business brings something unique to the community and expressed appreciation for the owners' hospitality and pride in sharing their culture.
Chapinlandia Restaurant is open seven days a week.
