Katy Hall is running as a Republican candidate for the Utah House District 11 seat, emphasizing a platform centered on listening to constituents and utilizing her nursing background. In responses to a survey issued by the Standard-Examiner, Hall outlined her priorities including healthcare affordability and support for military families.
Hall's legislative experience includes serving as the chair of the House Health and Human Services committee. She stated that her nursing career has provided her with experience in evaluating complex situations and making decisions that affect lives. Her stated priorities for the coming year include making healthcare more affordable, protecting taxpayers, and preserving individual freedoms.
Regarding healthcare, Hall expressed a focus on improving transparency with Medicaid and taxpayer dollars while working to understand the drivers of costs to make care more accessible for Utah families.
Because House District 11 encompasses Hill Air Force Base, Hall noted that military service and support for the armed forces are essential to the community. She described herself as a member of a military family, noting her husband serves in the Navy reserves, one son served five years of active duty in the Air Force and is now in the reserves, and another son is completing an ROTC program at SUU to serve in the Utah National Guard.
Hall described her approach to politics as focusing on practical solutions rather than partisan politics. She cited a recent legislative session where she sponsored a bill to establish clearer guidelines for adoption agencies in Utah, which she said reached an agreement through collaboration and open dialogue without opposition.
The Standard-Examiner recently conducted an attempt to contact each candidate involved in a competitive race within Weber and Davis counties to gather information for voters.
