Weber County and the Utah Office of Energy Development will host a community symposium to explore the potential role of nuclear energy within the county. The event is scheduled for August 5, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center.
In separate news, the Weber County Commission has announced that applications are being accepted to fill two vacant positions on the Weber County Career Service Council. To be eligible, applicants must be residents of Weber County.
The county continues to manage various infrastructure and public service updates. Recent developments include a completed new connector road in Ogden Valley, developed in partnership with Asphalt Construction and Excavating and Eden Valley Opportunity, LLC (EVO Utah).
Regarding local recreation, the Port Ramp Marina and Windsurfer Beach at Pineview Reservoir are currently closed to the public. This closure is due to ongoing construction intended to improve visitor experience and provide safer access to recreation sites.
Weber County has also approved a .20% sales and use tax, known as the 5th 5% Local Option Sales Tax. This tax is dedicated to supporting transportation infrastructure and city and county-wide public safety priorities.
