A single-vehicle crash into American Preparatory Academy resulted in one death just before 11 p.m. on September 14, 2026, according to a September 15 statement from the West Valley City Police Department.
Witnesses informed officers that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on 3100 South at a high rate of speed before leaving the roadway. The vehicle jumped the curb on the south side of the school and struck the building before catching fire. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle engulfed in flames, which was subsequently extinguished by the West Valley City Fire Department.
