The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced open house and dedication dates for the Knoxville Tennessee and Smithfield Utah Temples in a statement published September 13. The announcement also included groundbreaking dates for new temples in La Paz, Bolivia, and Cincinnati, Ohio, scheduled for late 2026.
The Knoxville Tennessee Temple will hold a media day on Monday, January 25, 2027, followed by guest tours on January 26. A public open house is scheduled from Wednesday, January 27, through Saturday, February 13, 2027, excluding Sundays. Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is scheduled to dedicate the Knoxville temple on Sunday, March 7, 2027, in a ceremony broadcast to the temple district.
In Utah, the Smithfield Utah Temple will host a media day on Monday, February 22, 2027, with guest tours on February 23 and 24. A public open house will run from Thursday, February 25, through Saturday, March 27, 2027, excluding Sundays. Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside over the temple dedication on Sunday, April 18, 2027.
Groundbreaking services for the La Paz Bolivia Temple are scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2026, with Elder Juan Pablo Villar, President of the South America Northwest Area of the Church, presiding. The temple is planned for a 3.8-acre site near Avenida Los Sauces and Calle 8 de Calacoto in Calacoto, measuring approximately 18,850 square feet.
Groundbreaking for the Cincinnati Ohio Temple will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, with Elder Alan T. Phillips of the United States Northeast Area Presidency presiding. The single-story temple, planned for approximately 29,630 square feet, will be built on a 35-acre site at the intersection of Mason-Montgomery Road and Cedar Village Drive in Mason, Ohio.
Utah is home to more than 2.2 million Latter-day Saints across nearly 5,400 congregations. The state currently has 32 temples in operation, under construction, under renovation, or announced. Recently announced temples for Utah include locations in Lehi, Price, Spanish Fork, and West Jordan.
