Southern Utah University has released a history of campus alerts, which includes records of emergency response training and past safety incidents. According to an undated notice on the university's website, there are no current alerts active for the campus.
In an alert from September 10, 2026, the university reported that a situation involving a suspicious package at the L.S. and Aline Skaggs (SCA) building was resolved and deemed safe for normal activities. This followed an earlier report on the same day requesting the evacuation of the SCA building due to the presence of a suspicious package.
The archive also details several planned emergency response exercises conducted throughout the year. These included training at the PE Building on Aug. 27, 2026, and exercises at the Sherratt Library and Geoscience building on May 8, 2026. A fire drill was also conducted at the Sherratt Library on March 18, 2026.
Weather-related alerts were also documented, including a delayed start for the campus on Feb. 20, 2026, due to hazardous conditions. Additionally, the university issued warnings regarding low visibility and snow conditions in February 2026, and an air quality alert on June 23, 2026, when the Air Quality Index reached very unhealthy levels due to wildfires.
