PROHIBITIONS
Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. 551 and 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b), the following acts are prohibited in the National Forest System (NFS) lands, roads, and trail within the Beaver Ranger District of the Fishlake National Forest, which is closed for safety due to wildland fire: 1. Entering or being in an area. 36 CFR § 261.52(e) 2. Being on the Road 36 CFR § 261.54(e) 3. Being on a Trail. 36 CFR § 261.55(a)
EXEMPTIONS
Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order: 1. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order or a written determination by a Forest Service authorized officer that a permit is not required under 36 C.F.R. § 251.50(e)(1) or (2). 2. Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.
AREA DESCRIBED
Area Closure: the area closed by this Order is depicted on the Map attached hereto as Exhibit A, which is incorporated herein by reference and is generally described as:
Beginning at the administrative Forest boundary and State Road 153 North along the administrative Forest boundary to the intersection of Forest Road 988; Northeast along Forest Road 988 to Mount Baldy; North from Mount Baldy to Mount Belknap; Northeast from Mount Belknap to Forest Road 123; South along Forest Road 123 to the Beaver/Piute County line, Southeast along the County line to the intersection of Forest Trail 224; North along Forest Trail 224 to the intersection of Forest Trail 224 and Forest Trail 072; East along Forest Trail 072 to Forest Trailhead 072; Northeast from Forest Trailhead 072 to Forest Road 1111; East along Forest Road 1111 to the intersection of Forest Road 1111 and Forest Road 126; South along Forest Road 126 to the intersection of Forest Road 126 and PST 77; East from PST 77 to Deer Trail Mountain; Deer Trail Mountain Southeast to PST 77; Northeast along PST 77 to the administrative Forest Order #0408-26-09 boundary; South along the administrative Forest boundary to Forest Road 516; West along Forest Road 516 to the Beaver/Piute County line; the Beaver/Piute County line Northwest to Forest trail 068 Trailhead; from Forest trail 068 Trailhead Northwest to the intersection of Forest trail 066 and Forest Trail 235; West along Forest Trail 235 to the intersection of Forest Trail 235 and Forest Trail 234; Northwest along Forest Trail 234 to the intersection of Forest trail 234 and Forest Road 233; North along Forest Road 233 to the intersection of Forest Road 233 and Forest Trail 066; West along Forest Trail 066 to the administrative Forest boundary; North along the administrative Forest boundary to the intersection of the administrative Forest boundary and State Road 153.
All roads and trails within the above-described area are closed.
Closed Roads: SR-153, 985, 601, 2355, 972, 988, 123, 126, 136, 634, 479, 1092, 133, 516, 576. Closed Trails: PST 05, 062, PST 01, 224, PST 34, PST 32, 066, 234.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this Order is to protect public health and safety during The Cottonwood Fire and post fire containment.
IMPLEMENTATION
1. This shall be in effect from July 21, 2026, at 06:00 and will remain in effect until December 31, 2026, unless rescinded.
2. A map identifying the Described Area is attached and made part of this Order as Exhibit A.
3. Unless otherwise expressly defined in this Order, the terms used in this Order are defined by the regulations of the Secretary of Agriculture, 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299. If there are terms in this Order that are not expressly defined in the Order or 36 C.F.R. Chapter II, Parts 200-299, their meaning shall be determined by their plain language definitions.
4. A violation of the above prohibitions is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six months, or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3559, 3571, and 3581.
5. Contact the Fishlake National Forest Supervisor’s Office in Richfield, Utah, (435) 896-9233, or the Beaver Ranger District Office in Beaver, Utah, (435)-438-2436 for more information about this Order. 6. This Order supersedes Forest Order 0408-26-03, and any previous Orders prohibiting the same or similar acts in the same Described Area. Order #0408-26-09 Signed and issued on July 20th, 2026.
