...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 110.

Warm overnight lows in the 70s will offer little relief.

* WHERE...Capitol Reef National Park and Vicinity, Glen Canyon

Recreation Area/Lake Powell, South Central Utah, Western

Canyonlands, Lower Washington County, and Zion National Park.

* WHEN...Until 9 PM MDT Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during

extreme heat events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of

the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car

interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose

fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning

or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and

heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and

Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in

shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat

should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an

emergency! Call 9 1 1.

WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 495 AND

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Red

Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in

effect from 1 PM to 10 PM MDT Sunday. The Fire Weather Watch is

no longer in effect.

* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 495 Color Country West

Desert and Fire Weather Zone 497 Mojave Desert.

* WINDS...Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 9 percent.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any

new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are

either occurring now...or are imminent. A combination of strong

winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can

contribute to extreme fire behavior.
