The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management plan to develop a Draft Environmental Assessment for the Washington County Central Reuse System. This project is intended to serve communities throughout southwest Utah.
The project would deliver secondary irrigation water supplies and augment potable water supplies by conveying non-potable reuse to municipal and agricultural users in exchange for current outdoor irrigation sources. Ultimately, the project will contribute to the Regional Reuse Purification System for Washington County.
Reclamation is conducting a public scoping period prior to preparing the Draft Environmental Assessment. This period begins December 23, 2025, and concludes on January 23, 2026.
Reclamation is seeking input from the public, Tribes, agencies, and other interested parties. A public scoping meeting will be held in person on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 6pm to 8pm at Legacy Park in the Grafton Building, located at 5500 West 700 South, Hurricane, UT.
Comments regarding the scoping period may be submitted via email to comments@baxterenvllc.com or through standard mail using the address found on the project website. All comments must be submitted by January 23, 2026.
