As many of you are aware, the Governor of Utah has issued an Executive Order temporarily restricting fireworks statewide through July 5 in response to elevated wildfire risk across Utah. In addition, the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands (FFSL) has implemented fireworks restrictions due to current fire conditions.
Local fireworks ban details
After careful consideration and consultation with local and state fire officials, Mayor Waite and Fire Chief Cazier have jointly decided to uphold and continue the prohibition on personal fireworks within our community through July 5 in support of the state's efforts to reduce wildfire risk and protect public safety.
Reasons for the prohibition
This decision was not made lightly. Wildfire activity across Utah has already stretched firefighting resources thin, and many local personnel and equipment resources are committed to supporting fire response efforts throughout the state. Preventing new fire starts is one of the most important steps we can take to protect our residents, homes, businesses, and surrounding public lands.
Safe celebration alternatives
While personal fireworks will not be permitted, we encourage residents and visitors to celebrate safely by attending one of the professionally managed commercial fireworks displays taking place in our region, including:

Tuacahn Amphitheatre fireworks displays on July 3 and July 4
Professional displays provide an opportunity for families to enjoy the tradition and excitement of fireworks while minimizing the risk of wildfire and reducing demands on emergency responders.
Other Independence Day activities
We also encourage families to celebrate with the many traditions that make Independence Day special: parades, barbecues, community events, patriotic programs, outdoor recreation, and spending time with friends, family, and neighbors.

We recognize this may be disappointing for some, but public safety must remain our highest priority. Mayor Waite and Fire Chief Cazier appreciate the community's understanding and cooperation as we work together to protect lives, property, and our beautiful landscapes during this period of extreme fire danger.
