Weber County has transitioned to a new online application process for building permits through the Open Gov system. As of March 30, 2026, all building permit applications must be submitted via countyofweberut.portal.opengov.com.
For projects located within the newly incorporated area of Ogden Valley City, individuals should visit ogdenvalley.gov/planning to obtain information or apply for a building permit.
While new applications are moving to the Open Gov system, access to existing applications in Frontier has been reopened. Users may continue to add documentation or comments to existing applications at frontier.co.weber.ut.us.
The Weber County Building Inspection Department conducts plan reviews and field inspections to ensure compliance with adopted codes, aiming to protect the health and safety of citizens in unincorporated Weber County areas. Plans are reviewed in the order they are received, and the department allows fourteen working days for the review process. All items must be completed before plans are accepted and reviewed for compliance.
Once plans are approved, a permit is issued so that work may begin.
Inspection requests are processed within three business days of the request date, excluding holidays. When scheduling an inspection, applicants must provide the name and address of the owner or contractor, the permit number, the type of inspection, and a contact phone number.
Inspections are scheduled on either an A.M. or P.M. basis. A.M. inspections occur from 8:30 A.M. to 12:00 noon, while P.M. inspections run from 12:00 noon to 4:00 P.M. Approved plans must be present on-site for all inspections.
